HOME VARIATIONS is comprised of four drawings, each drawing (dim. 178.2 x 210 cm) comprised of fifteen sheets (dim. 59.4 x 42 cm) in 5x3 configuration.
Each sheet is interchangeable into the same position across all four drawings, allowing for 1,073,741,824 different drawings, resulting in 504,857,282,956,046,106,624 different polyptychs.
Changing one sheet every second it would take over 34 years to present all drawings one by one.
Davor Vrankić was born in Osijek, Croatia, in 1965. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo from 1986 to 1988, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 1991. From 1995 to 1999 he studied at the Faculté d'Arts Plastiques, Université Paris VIII. His media are drawings, his technique is 2B graphite lead on paper. His works were displayed at many solo and group exhibitions in Paris, New York, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, etc. He has received several art awards and his work has been included in collections of many international museums such as MoMA, New York, Museum Overholland, Amsterdam, Modern Gallery, Zagreb, Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb, as well as private collections, including Ronald S. Lauder, New York and Cognacq-Jay, Paris. He lives and works in Paris and New York.
